Islamabad: Eight militants on death row in Pakistan will be executed in prisons across Punjab province Saturday, media reported.
The executions will be carried out at the Kot Lakpat, Adiala and Bahawalpur jails, Geo TV reported citing Punjab Home Minister Shuja Khanzada.
The moratorium on the death penalty in terrorism cases was lifted in Pakistan following the brutal Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar Tuesday that killed more than 140 students and teachers.
Pakistan executed the first two terrorists Friday when Aqeel alias Dr Usman and Arshad Mahmood were sent to the gallows at the district jail in Faisalabad.
Usman was the mastermind of the Oct 10, 2009, attack on the army’s General Headquarters (GHQ) while Mahmood was involved in the attack on former president Pervez Musharraf in 2003.
