AAP promises special status for Delhi’s villages

New Delhi : The AAP Sunday promised it would give special status to Delhi’s over 360 villages if voted to power in the capital.

“The Aam Aadmi Party government will give special status to every village in Delhi. The villages will be facilitated with several basic infrastructure,” AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal told people during the fourth phase of the Delhi Dialogue campaign in Ghumanhera village in west Delhi.

Kejriwal said they will bring suitable administrative and land reforms so that regressive and outdated regulations on land sale and usage are scrapped.

“(We will conduct) re-carving of wards in rural villages so that the wards with rural population have a distinct identity. Our aim would be of recognising our villages as villages, conserving their cultural legacy and heritage,” he said.

The dialogue was focused on the interests and welfare of the residents of the 362 villages in the capital, of which 135 are urban and 227 are rural villages.

The first three editions of the Delhi Dialogue focussed on youth, women, and water and electricity.
