Islamabad : Pakistan executed another terrorist Saturday morning who was awarded the death sentence for killing a Muslim in 2001.
Ikramul Haq Lahori, a death row prisoner whose execution was suspended Jan 8, was hanged in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat prison for killing a member of the Shia community, The News International reported.
The execution was carried out amid tight security around the detention facility.
With Lahori’s execution, the total number of executions since December last year reached 20.
On Dec 17, Pakistan lifted a moratorium on the death penalty in terror-related cases following a attack on an army-run Peshawar school Dec 16, 2014 in which Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan militants killed over 140 people, most of them children.
