Guwahati: As many as 30 women trainees passed out from the first 90-day ‘Placement linked skill training programme’ under the ‘Swarna Jayanti Swarojgar Yojana (SJSRY) – principally aimed at the urban unemployed women – here on Tuesday.
The second training programme with equal number of participants was also inaugurated simultaneously. The training programme was organised by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation and implemented by Ajmal Foundation.

Narrating her own story of struggles and achievements, Jupitora Bhuyan Dutta, one of the leading actors of the Assamese screen and the chief guest on the occasion, exhorted the trainees to make the best use of the training they had received under.
Mubina Akhtar, member of State Wild Life Advisory Board, Assam said a person in any and every strata of the society has a role to play in the development of the society. She expressed hope that the trainees who have been given significant inputs in the hospitality sector would play a major role in the development of tourism in Assam.
Earlier, in the welcome address, Majaj Rasul, project coordinator of the programme, informed the gathering about the stress laid by Ajmal Foundation in extending skill empowerment to the youth of the state.
Bina Rymbai, chief executive, Housekeeping, Hotel Kiranshree Portico and one of the resource persons of the programme, stressed on dignity of labour and said, “If a person is hardworking, he or she can rise to great heights”.
