New Delhi : A Delhi court Thursday sought clarification from the CBI and the defence counsel and reserved its order on a plea of three accused in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case, who sought transfer of the case to another court on the grounds of jurisdiction.
District judge Rakesh Siddharth fixed Feb 20 for delivering the order on the plea of Brahmanand Gupta, Peeriya and Ved Prakash, who are seeking transfer of the case from Karkardooma district court in east Delhi to Rohini district court in west Delhi.
Judge Siddharth, who recently took charge of the court, said he wanted some clarification on the issue.
All the three, along with Congress leader Sajjan Kumar, are facing trial in connection with the killing of a man in Sultanpuri area in west Delhi in the riots that erupted after the assassination of then prime minister Indira Gandhi.
The court had framed various charges, including those of murder and rioting, against them.
Currently, the court is recording the statements of prosecution witnesses in the case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation had filed two charge sheets against Sajjan Kumar and others in January 2010 in the riots cases registered in 2005 on the recommendation of the Justice G.T. Nanavati Commission which had probed the sequence of events leading to the violence.
