Mujtaba Farooq appointed working president, Mushawarat looks ahead to expansion in many states in its 50th year

New Delhi: Aimed at spreading its work across the country in its 50th year, the All India Muslim Majlis-e Mushawarat, the umbrella body of Indian Muslim organisations, has established working committees in several states and appointed Mujtaba Farooq as its working president.

In order to continue expansion of Mushawarat and to make all its state units working, the national president of the organisation has appointed Mujtaba Farooq as its working president. Farooq is the founder of the Welfare Party of India and one of the top leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind.

Farooq has been assigned the responsibilities of activating and keeping all state units active, to strive for establishing organisational units in the states where it has no presence, institute district and city units and to make new members of the organization, a release from Mushawarat said here on Monday.

He is also expected to assist in organising the programme for the golden jubilee of Mushwarat in coming months.

Dr Zafarul Islam Khan, president of Mushawarat, recently toured Kolkata, Chennai and Lucknow, where he constituted working units for respective states aiming to expand and tune in the organisation activities there.

Abdul Aziz and Dr Ayyaz Ahmad Islahi have been appointed as conveners at Kolkata and Lucknow for their respective states, the release from Mushawarat said, adding, “Both are expected to shortly call a meeting and elect responsible members for the state units.”

After the elections in Chennai, Hakeem Doctor Khalufullah was elected as state president and S M Basha as state general secretary.

Mushawarat has already finalised office bearers for its Gujarat unit by appointing renowned cleric Maulana Abdul Raheem Matadar as its president, who is carrying the organization activities successfully, the release said.

“Bihar unit is also expected to be made working in next few weeks with the help of Mushawarat’s active members at Patna. Two more state units are expected to be made active shortly by electing working committees there,” it added.

Mushawarat will be completing 50 years of its founding soon. For its celebration, preparations are in progress vis-à-vis compilation of history, organisation’s documentations in different languages, its plans, responsibilities and activities etc.
