New Delhi: Women’s Manifesto organized Women’s Day 2015 at The Scholar School, Jamia Nagar here on March 14. Around 300 women from different states took part in this event which was organized under the patronage of Human Welfare Foundation.
The purpose of the event was to bring women on a platform where they can discuss their issues and concerns at their own network. The formal session was initiated by the welcome address of, Shabnam Saifi. Remya Ramakrishnan introduced Women’s Day 2015 to the participants. Dr. Neelam Sukharamani, Associate Professor, Jamia Millila Islamia delivered the keynote address on the theme ‘Women Empowerment’. She said that women empowerment comes from her own self and she should take initiative to achieve this. The session was followed by a two way dialogue with the participants.
MCD Councilor Ishrat Begum also spoke on the occasion. Rita Panicker Founder Director, Butterflies was the guest of honor for the event. Women’s Manifesto President Swaliha, General Secretary Sharnas Muthu, and Treasurer Majida presented memento to guests.
After the inaugural session, Women’s Manifesto felicitated 16 women achievers of the year 2014 in the fields of academics, sports and co- curricular activities at the University, State and National level. “Women’s Manifesto” news letter was released by the guests of the program jointly.
Different stalls were put up at the event for legal awareness, career guidance and counseling, paper craft, hand craft, snacks corner, mehendi art by volunteers and Self Help Groups under the Women’s Manifesto.
Human Welfare Foundation, Alshifa Hospital, and DNipCare also put their pavilions at the venue. Dr. Priya from Chennai took a session on Oral Hygiene. Hamna from AIIMS took the next session on Breast Feeding.
The formal programme was followed up with cultural events. The programme saw huge turnout from the neighborhood as well.
