Srinagar:Three policemen were killed on Monday when suspected militants attacked a police party in Shopian district of south Kashmir, sources said.
The policemen posted at Shopian police station in the district headquarters were critically injured after militants ambushed them in Shamsipora village of the district, sources said.

However, all the three cops succumbed to their injuries on their way to hospital.
Sources said the policemen were not armed and that they had left for the village to investigate a civil case.
A group of heavily armed militants dragged the policemen, returning from a village, out of a passenger vehicle they were traveling in and fired at them at point blank range.
The deceased have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad, a resident of Arihal Pulwama; Nisar Ahmad of Sopore and Shabir Ahmad of Leh in Ladakh area of Jammu and Kashmir. The area has been cordoned off and search operation taken up.
