Thiruvananthapuram : Kerala Pradesh Congress chief V.M. Sudheeran will lead the party’s contingent from the state at Kisan rally in Delhi on April 19.
Speaking to IANS, Sudheeran said he will reach Delhi later on Saturday.
He also said Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will not be attending the rally as the polls to the three Rajya Sabha seats from Kerala are scheduled to be held on April 20.
“Since the Rajya Sabha polls are scheduled for Monday (April 20), neither Chandy nor any of the legislators will be going to Delhi. We are having a small contingent of less than 50, who will take part in the rally tomorrow (Sunday),” said Sudheeran.
Sunday’s rally is being organised by the Congress to protest the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government’s anti-farmer land acquisition ordinance.
Former defence minister and senior Congress leader A.K. Antony on Friday told reporters in Delhi that though it was the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government which brought in the ordinance, the Modi government has made several changes to it.
