Doha: Indian Association of Bihar and Jharkhand (IABJ) invited the Indians residing in Qatar and celebrated ‘Bihar and Jharkhand Diwas’ at Doha.
Dinesh Udaniya, First Secretory, Indian Embassy Qatar, was the chief guest while the guest of honor was Sabih Bukhari, GM, SATCO International. R K Singh from the Indian Embassy, Syed Abdul Hai and Nilanshu De, Qatar Petroleum, were also present there as guests for the event that was held on Friday, April 17, at Al Maha Academy Doha.
The IABJ was founded by the people from Bihar and Jharkhand in the state of Qatar and affiliated to the Indian Cultural Center (ICC) under the aegis of Embassy of India, Doha, Qatar. IABJ is a socio-cultural non-profit organization functioning in the state of Qatar for the community development and welfare of the people, of other community at large and people of Bihar & Jharkhand in particular, a release said.
The ceremony started with Indian national anthem followed by the Bihar song by the group of children. Faruque Ahmad, president of IABJ, welcomed all the participants and stated that the huge gathering of the Indian community at this place “proves our unconditional love to our country.”
He added that since the year 2009, IABJ is organizing the celebration of Bihar and Jharkhand Diwas in Doha. He also told that the contribution of IABJ for the Bihar and Jharkhand people in Doha is really appreciable. “Due to its social works for the people of Bihar and Jharkhand, IABJ became a well-known organization in Doha and Indian Embassy also appreciated IABJ’s work several times. IABJ is committed to continue support to the people of Bihar and Jharkhand,” he said.
Syed Alim Akhtar, general secretary of IABJ, presented the yearly report and gave all the information about the activity and programmes held by IABJ. He also gave the detailed information about the social works done by IABJ.
Fancy dress competition was held for children below the age of nine years.
IABJ’s women wing coordinator Shabana Khan welcomed all the guests with flower bouquets.
Udaniya praised the IABJ’s social and cultural works. He also described the historical background of the province of Bihar and Jharkhand from Indian states.
Sabih Bukhari, the guest of honor for the ceremony, thanked IABJ for organizing such an event in Doha. Nilanshu De encouraged IABJ a lot for its social and cultural contribution in Doha for the people of Bihar and Jharkhand, the release added.
In between the celebrations, the winners of several contests organized by IABJ were presented the prizes. These included winners and participating children for the Fancy Dress competition.
Udaniya also launched the magazine ‘Unnati’ published by IABJ. The famous musical group of Doha ‘Singing Bird Musical Group’ was also invited there to entertain the participants of this celebration. The event coordinator of this celebration Jawaid Alam Siddiqui presented a beautiful song from Bollywood and got lot of appreciation for his fantastic performance.
IABJ’s Ghufran Mohammad was announced the “Man of IABJ” for his outstanding work for IABJ. He was awarded with a trophy. IABJ also organized the ‘Magical Show’ by magician Jemshu in this celebration to entertain children.
At the end of the programme, Jawaid Alam Siddiqui thanked everyone for participating in this event. The IABJ Bihar and Jharkhand Diwas 2015 was hosted by Afroz Dawar, Hamid Raza, Shabana Khan and Ghufran Mohammad, the release added.
