Guwahati : BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday expressed confidence that his party will win next year’s assembly polls in Assam and assured that it would tackle the problem of illegal migration from neighbouring Bangladesh.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief, who arrived here on the last leg of his eight-day tour of the northeast region, appealed to the people of Assam to vote for his party and get freedom from illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.
“Only the BJP can free Assam from the illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. The people of Assam have given opportunity to many in the past. I request you to give just one chance to the BJP and we are going to make Assam one of the most developed states of the country,” he said at a public meeting here.
Highlighting the achievements of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, he said the main feature of the National Democratic Alliance is that there is no corruption till now while there used to be a scam every day during the tenure of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.
“The UPA government promised to control price rise of essential commodities. It was in power for ten years but failed to contain it. However, it is only nine months that the NDA has assumed charge at the Centre and we have been able to control price rise. In fact, the UPA government did not want to control price rise,” he claimed.
He also claimed that the country’s security scenario has improved since the Modi government came to power.
