New Delhi : At least 13 Indian Air Force aircraft were deployed to undertake rescue and relief operations in earthquake-hit Nepal, Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar said here on Sunday.
Five of these have landed in Kathmandu while others are on their way, he added.
Besides the 13 aircraft, six Mi-17 helicopters were deployed, while two advanced light helicopters of the army and four Mi-17 choppers are on standby.
He said seven National Disaster Response Force teams have reached Nepal on Saturday and three more will reach the Himalayan nation on Sunday.
The quake measured 7.9 on the Richter scale jolted Nepal on Saturday, leaving over 2,300 dead. Over 50 aftershocks were also felt.
