New Delhi : India has taken up with the Chinese its concerns over the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor that is to pass through Pakistani Kashmir, Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar said here on Tuesday.
Answering a media query at a briefing, Jaishankar said that the “matter has been taken up with the Chinese through diplomatic channels”.
He said that the government took up the matter with the Chinese envoy in New Delhi, while in Beijing, the Indian envoy discussed the issue there.
The matter was raised immediately after the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Islamabad during which he announced the multi-million dollar economic corridor project that is to run through Pakistani Kashmir.
The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is to link China’s far-western region to Pakistan’s Gwadar deep-sea port on the Arabian Sea via Pakistani Kashmir.
