A Facebook account created in the name of ‘Azeez Ahmad’ posted offensive images due to which religious feelings of Muslims were hurt and as a legal remedy they decided to approach police for action against the offender.
Rashed Azim, President of Mumbai Unit of All India Milli Council said, “Such incidences have increased in the recent past where social media is being used to malign religious feelings of Muslims. Muslims can never tolerate insult of Prophet and hence it seems to be a planned conspiracy to instigate them to resort to violence and there by disturb the communal harmony”.
“An action must be taken and those behind such incidences be immediately booked to teach them a lesson”, he demanded.
Although police has accepted the complaint but no FIR has been registered as yet. Police believe that in most of such cases images are created and uploaded from outside India due to which culprits could not be apprehended.
On Council’s insistence, police assured of complete investigation, filing of FIR and arrest of offender if origin of uploading of images is found to be within India.
For caution the police have issued number (9820810007) to immediately report instances of such circulation of derogatory images over social media.
