Yadav’s comments came a day after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar urged Mulayam Singh Yadav to convene a meeting of the merger committee to clear the air and end the public speculation after the recent statement by its general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav, and subsequent comments by RJD leaders Lalu Prasad and Raghuvansh Prasad Singh.

Stating that there was no illusion about the parties’ merger, Yadav said, six parties have already named Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav as chief of the new entity.

He said Mulayam Singh Yadav was only authorised to take any decision related to the merger and make any statement over it.
