Government to launch ‘Nai Manzil’ scheme from Bihar

New Delhi : In a move to woo minority voters, the BJP-led NDA government is all set to launch its ‘Nai Manzil’ scheme from poll-bound Bihar next month.

“Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will launch the scheme in the presence of Minority Affairs minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and other senior party leaders in June from Bihar’s Phulwarisharif,” a source told IANS.

Phulwarisharif is a notified area in Patna. Bihar is slated to go for polls in September-October this year. Muslims make up 16 percent of the population in the state.

The ‘Nai Manzil’ or New Destination scheme is part of the BJP’s strategy to counter the challenge posed by the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s alliance with the Janata Dal-United, the source added.

The scheme, announced in the Budget 2015-16 by Jaitley, aims to enable youth from the minority community who do not have a formal school-leaving certificate to obtain one and find a better employment.
