Maoists torch eight vehicles in Bihar

Patna:Maoists set on fire eight vehicles of a private construction company in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district and assaulted two of its guards for not paying the levy they had demanded, police said on Saturday.

Muzaffarpur Superintendent of Police Ranjit Kumar Mishra told IANS that a group of over 50 armed Maoists attacked the camp of Gamon India construction near Kamtaul village late Friday.

Mishra said police have detained three people in this connection.

Maoists in rural areas across Bihar are paid a levy by private construction companies, contractors, traders, and businessmen.

Muzaffarpur is one of the Maoists affected districts of north Bihar.
