Islamabad: Four terrorists were killed in a gunfight with the security forces in Pakistan’s Karachi city, media reported on Wednesday.
The incident took place on Tuesday in the city’s Safoora Chowk area.
The four militants on two motorbikes were spotted by police and asked to slow down, but the militants opened fire instead, leading to the gunbattle, reported Dawn news.
“The policemen asked the riders to stop, but they fired shots instead, triggering firing by the police. After a brief gunfight all the four armed men were found dead,” police officer Khalid Khan said.
According to police, the militants were spotted near Al Azhar Garden, where 45 people were killed and 20 injured when gunmen opened fire inside a bus carrying Ismaili Muslims on May 13.
“We have already enhanced deployment in this neighbourhood after the last month’s incident…,” Khan added.
Police seized two motorbikes, pistols and hand-grenades from the terrorists.
