AAP government to scrap ‘Mission Convergence’ scheme

New Delhi : The AAP government in Delhi might scrap “Mission Convergence”, a social welfare scheme for the poor launched by the previous Sheila Dikshit-led Congress government in 2008.

“There is a possibility of winding up the scheme. You also have to look into the viability of the scheme,” a source in the government said on Wednesday.

“The Aam Aadmi Party government is reviewing many schemes and Mission Convergence is one of them,” a top official said.

Launched by then chief minister Sheila Dikshit, Mission Convergence or Samajik Suvidha Sangam, aims to identify the poor and reach out to them with aid.

A registered body under the same name – Samajik Suvidha Sangam – has been entrusted with implementing the scheme.
