Analytical report on ‘Education in Assembly’ released in Karnataka

Bengaluru: The Students Islamic Organisation (SIO), Karnataka unit released an analytical report on ‘Education in Assembly’ – an analysis of discussion on Education in the last budget session of Karnataka, here.

Dr Niranjanaradhya, VP, Fellow and programme head (Right to Education) at the Centre for Child and the Law (CCL) here, released the report at the legislative hall -1 (Shasakara Bhavan) here on Tuesday.

“There should be more quality discussion on Education in the ‘Legislative Assembly’ on the topics such as privatisation, RTE implementation and teachers training etc.,” Dr Niranjanaradhya said while speaking on the occasion.

He also expressed his concern towards very small allocation of budget towards education by the state, a release from Abdul Kabeer, Public Relations secretary, SIO, Karnataka, said.

Thousif Madikeri, national secretary, SIO of India, said politicians and government instead of lobbying for establishment of IITs, should focus on improving the standard of existing engineering and other professional colleges. He also demanded the state government to introduce degree courses on Arabic language and Islamic studies in all universities.

There was an open session wherein students discussed various educational issues with the experts.
Dr C Chandrappa, B T Lalitha Naik (former minister, government Of Karnataka) and SIO state president Labeed Shafi were also present on the occasion, the release said.
