Srinagar: Clashes erupted in parts of Srinagar on Monday after some youth came on the streets to protest Sunday’s mysterious death of a boy in the city.
The protesters forced closure of shops in the commercial hub of Lal Chowk to protest the death of Owais Ahmad Fufu, whose body was taken out of the Jhelum river on Sunday.
A large number of police and paramilitary troopers were deployed in the area to maintain law and order.
On Sunday, police and Central Reserve Police Force personnel had to use batons and tear smoke shells to quell stone-pelting youth.
