Lucknow : The BJP on Monday accused Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi of siding with individuals known for making hate speeches and who have even been booked for the same and slammed the Congress party over it.
Soon after Rahul Gandhi was seen with Congress leader Imran Masood, the state Bharatiya Janata Party sought an explanation from the party on Masood’s presence near Gandhi.
“The world knows what Masood said about Narendra Modi, he was even arrested and jailed for his hate speech. At that time the Congress had distanced itself from the man and now it seemingly has embraced him back,” said BJP state spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak.
Regarding the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Masood had said “Modi ki boti-boti kara doonga” (I will have Modi torn into pieces).
The BJP spokesperson also said that if this was the beginning of ‘Mission 2017’ (Uttar Pradesh assembly election) of the Congress, the future could well be predicted.
