Yasin Malik charged with waging ‘war against state’; sent to 10 days judicial custody

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have slapped serious charges waging ‘war against state’ on Yasin Malik, the senior separatist leader and chairman Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front ( JKLF), two days after a protest rally had turned violent leading to grievous injuries to Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of police station Kothibagh, Fahad Tak.

According to a report published in local Newspaper, Kashmir Life, Yasin Malik and several of his party leaders have been slapped with ‘waging war against state’ and ‘attempt to murder’.

As per Newspaper sources the separatist leader, Yasin Malik and eight other JKLF leaders including Noor Kalwal, Showkat Bakhshi, Sheikh Rashid, Bashir Kashmiri, Gh Muhammad Dar, Ishfaq, Nazir Rather, Muneeb Javaid who are in police custody at Kothibagh police station were presented before a city judge on Sunday, December 27 have now been sent on 10 days judicial custody and are being shifted to central Jail.
“They are going under mandatory medical check-up this time,” quoted Kashmir Life.

Importantly, on December 25, after Friday prayers clashes had erupted shortly after police detained JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik, along with eight of his colleagues, as they tried to take out a march to protest the killing of a woman and her minor son by a Village Defence Committee (VDC) member in Rajouri district on December 24.

A police officer, Fahad Tak was injured during the clashes between protesters and security forces when he was hit by a stone badly injuring his eye and nose. He was later flown to AIIMS New Delhi for specialized treatment.
