Muzaffarpur (Bihar) : Amid controversy over irregularities in Bihar’s education system, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has opened a centre for vocational education here, a statement said.
“The institute would partner with local banks and other financial institutions for trainings and placements,” TISS Muzaffarpur Centre incharge Radharaman Prasad Shahi said at the inaugural event.
TISS will provide a wide range of job-oriented courses and trainings in Banking, Financial Services and Insurance. The courses include Post Graduate Diplomas, Bachelor in Vocational Education, and short-term skill enhancement programmes.
Former Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Sanjay Paswan said that TISS would help raise the standard of higher eduation in Bihar.
“Some recent developments have damaged the image of Bihar, especially education system. I hope this initiative would removing those tints,” he said.
The initiative is aimed to provide immediate and definite interventions to improve the lives of the disadvantaged and marginalised youth, especially who are excluded by the formal school education system, through appropriate vocational training programmes, the institution said in a statement.
