Prof Anis receives VIFA 2016 life time achievement award

Aligarh: Professor Mohammad Anis, former Chairman, Department of Botany, Aligarh Muslim University has been conferred with the ‘Life Time Achievement Award’ by Venus International Foundation (VIFA 2016), in recognition for his scientific contribution in the field of Morphogenesis and Tissue Culture.

He received the award in a special ceremony at the Hotel Green Park, Chennai presided over by Justice T N Vallinayagam, Judge, Lok Adalat, Madras High Court.

Prof Anis has 32 years of teaching and research experience with the Department of Botany, AMU and his interest area has been in the field of Plant Biotechnology (Morphogenesis and Tissue Culture).

Prof Anis is a recipient of national and overseas Biotechnology Associateship of DBT, GOI, INSA in 1992 and 1994 respectively. He was a visiting scientist to the Frankfurt University in 1998; Institute of Genetics and Plant Biotechnology, NITRA, Slovak Republic in 2006.

He has also received the ‘Eminent Scientist of the Year’ award by National Environment Science Academy, New Delhi, Vigyan Ratan Samman of Council of Science and Technology, UP in 2010. Recently he was conferred with Professor P Maheshwari Medal in 2013 and Mid-Career Award of UGC in 2015 for his significant contribution in Medicinal Plant Biotechnology.
