Patna : Bihar’s Water Resources Development Minister Lalan Singh on Saturday refuted senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi’s allegation of breach or damage to embankments in the flood-hit state and claimed that all embankments were safe.
Singh also challenged Modi to prove his baseless accusation of breach or damage to embankments.
“All embankments were safe in Bihar and there is no need of any panic. Modi has made false and baseless charges,” Singh said.
Singh threatened Modi with legal action for his false statements. “He should think twice before making any statement or face legal action if he crossed the line.”
Modi reportedly said that embankments have been breached at several places in flood affected districts due to negligence of the state government.
At least 40 persons have died and nearly 38 lakh affected in the Bihar floods with many areas, specially the riverine belt of 12 districts, being submerged.
However, most rivers including the Ganga, are receding but over 3.5 lakh flood victims are still in relief camps set up by the government and are reluctant to return to their villages.
