Mother of Faisal, the convert who was killed in Kerala, accepts Islam

Two weeks after her son’s brutal murder, Meenakshi, mother of Faisal, has adopted Islam and taken a new name, Jameela.

Faisal P, alias Aneesh Kumar, son of Ananthan Nair, of Kodinhi, was found dead by the roadside at about 4 am by local residents. He was brutally murdered by RSS activists for accepting Islam.

Sources close to the relatives of Faisal said that Meenakshi converted after she was visited by leaders of Vanitha League, women outfit of IUML, following murder of Faisal. Sources said that she declared faith in front of these leaders by telling Shahada.

“Jameela, who is now living at his brother’s house at along with Faisal’s wife and three children, is taking preliminary lessons of Islam from local residents and children of Faisal Fahad and Fayis. She has also started performing Namaz,” a source said. Meenakshi’s brother Krishnan along with his two daughters had accepted Islam.

Faisal’s wife Priya has accepted Muslim name Jasna after conversion and now performing Idda after her husband’s demise.

Faisal P, alias Aneesh Kumar, son of Ananthan Nair, of Kodinhi, was found dead by the roadside at about 4 am by local residents. An auto rickshaw, which he had used for his transportation, was found abandoned by the dead body.

According to the neighbors, Faisal had received threats even from his family members after he accepted Islam. Besides, Faisal’s mother had alleged that his son was killed by RSS activists.

Last week, eight suspects were arrested by the special investigation team led by Kondotty Circle Inspector Muhammed Haneefa.

The arrested were Pullani Vinod, 39, Pullani Sajeesh, 32, Pulikkal Haridasan, 30, Shaji, 39, Chanath Sunil, 39, Kalathil Pradeep, 32, Pallippadi Lijesh, 27 and Kottayil Jayaprakash.

According to police, the accused included kin of the victim. Faisal was murdered after the suspects were given support by the local leadership of right wing Hindu forces. Police have also started probe into the conspiracy behind the murder.
