Scottsdale (US) : Daniel Chopra made a modest start with a two-under 69 in the opening round of the FBR Open on the US PGA Tour.
Chopra, winner of the season-opener Mercedes Benz Championships, had three birdies and one bogey in his round that placed him tied 34th.
Charles Warren and Kevin Sutherland shot six-under 65 each to share a one-stroke lead in the opening round crowd on a chilly day which started half an hour late due to frost.
Brian Gay and Camilo Villegas shot five-under 66 each. Phil Mickelson recovered from a pair of early bogeys on par-5 holes to finish with 3-under 68.
Twenty-four players were yet to finish their first round.
Chopra started on the tenth and bogeyed the 16th, but birdied the very next one. Later he added two more birdies on third and fourth holes to finish at two-under 69.
