Bhanu has won several medals in national and international events, including silver at the Asian Powerlifting Championship in 2017. Earlier in 2018, she was crowned Miss Kerala in the Mr Kerala Competition organized by the Bodybuilding Association of Kerala and the Sports Council of Kerala, making her the only hijab-clad woman to win the prize. Majiziya Bhanu hails from the small village of Orkkatteri in Kozhikode district in Kerala. She entered the field of powerlifting and armwrestling quite unexpectedly in 2016, and ever since has only moved forward. The 24-year old is a final-year student of BDS (Bachelor of Dental Science) in Mahe.
