Mumbai : The guard of a man who played a key role in the devastating 1993 Mumbai blasts was Tuesday sentenced to 14 years' rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs.375,000 for his role in the terror attack.
A special court here also sentenced four other people to varying jail terms.
The fine imposed on Manoj Gupta alias Mohammed Ali Khan, who guarded prime accused Tiger Memon, was the highest imposed so far by the Special Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) Court in the case.
Parvez Qureshi and Salim Bilase were also awarded life imprisonment. While Qureshi was given an additional 10 years rigorous imprisonment for aiding and abetting the blasts, Bilase was also awarded 14 years rigorous imprisonment. They were fined Rs.50,000 and Rs.200,000 respectively.
