Actor-director Kader Khan dead

January 1:Veteran actor-director Khader Khan has died at a hospital in Toronto, Cannada, a family member told IANS today.

Khader Khan was an actor, director, screenwriter and a comedian and has acted in nearly 300 movies. And wrote dialogues and dialogues for 250 films.

Born in Kabul, Afghanistan Khadar was educated in India. He graduated from Ismail Yusuf College affiliated to Bombay University. Before entering the film industry in the early 1970s, he taught at M. H. Saboo Siddik College of Engineering, Mumbai as a professor of Civil Engineering. He debuted with the film ‘Daag’ in 1973 with Rajesh Khanna.

His film career began when the famous superstar of yester years Dilip Kumar spotted him acting in a play at the Annual Day of the college and signed him up for his film.

He began with small roles and went on to play versatile roles that of a brother, father, husband, main supporting character, comedian, villain, lawyer, and so on. He has acted with almost all the top stars of his time and gained immense popularity for both his witty and emotional dialogues. But he was best loved for his comedy.

He was suffering from age related health problems and undergoing treatment in Canada.  He breathed his last at the age of 81 on 31st December, evening 6 pm. His last rites will be performed in Canada as all member of Khan’s family reside there.

Khader Khan is survived by his wife, three sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren.
