Ramallah : Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has described as “harsh and complicated” a report by the government-appointed Winograd Commission that probed the Israeli 2006 war against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Olmert said during a cabinet meeting Sunday that the report pointed to dangerous problems about the political and security reactions of the Israeli people.
He said the report, which commended the Israeli soldiers, was an opportunity to correct some matters that would enable the Jewish state to be ready at the political, security and social fronts.
Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak said he would remain in the coalition government to face challenges despite the outcome of the Winograd report.
