Lalu speaks to PM, Patil on Mumbai attacks

New Delhi : Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Tuesday spoke to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home minister Shivraj Patil, expressing his concern over the violence in Mumbai following Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray’s comments against people of north India.

“I tell you this is not a good thing. This fellow (Thackeray) is desperate to become a leader. He is abusing everyone. He is just a novice in politics,” Lalu Prasad said.

He said he had talked to the home minister and later also phoned up the prime minister and requested him to ensure that the situation was brought under control at the earliest.

Thackeray last week ridiculed people from north India, especially from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, who has settled in Mumbai. Many such migrants were attacked across Maharashtra Sunday allegedly by MNS workers.
