Pakistan, Saudi Arabia conclude Joint Naval War Game

Islamabad : The three-week long Pakistan-Saudi Arabia Joint Naval Exercise, Naseem Al-Bahr, concluded Friday in southern Karachi port city.

Chief of Staff, Vice Admiral Asaf Humayun, while addressing the gathering of officers, Chief Petty Officers/ Sailors from both sides, termed the exercise as an excellent opportunity and platform to revise existing procedures and doctrines and enhance interoperability between the two navies, said a press release.

The 21st century would see the Arabian Sea, Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea as focal points of global economics and security calculus, he said.

Owing to the immense energy resources of the region and the cumulative impact globalization has made it imperative for the navies to re-strategize their structure and roles, he added.

Both the navies, said the press release, divided in two force groups, were pitched against each other in classical maritime threat scenarios, which demanded sharp tactical manoeuvres and decisions.

The exercise was Ninth of its series and is a regular biennial feature.
