Washington : A spokesman of the Pakistani embassy here has contradicted a news item appearing in a section of the press in which ambassador to the United States Mahmud Ali Durrani has been quoted as saying that Pakistani forces killed a top militant Abu Laith al-Libi in a recent operation.
The spokesman said the ambassador did not claim that Libi had been killed as a result of operation carried out by Pakistani forces in North Waziristan.
The spokesman clarified that the ambassador had stated that about a dozen foreign terrorists were killed and the government was in the process of establishing their identity.
