Agartala : The Election Commission has transferred 125 civil and police officials and barred them from election-related duties in Tripura where assembly polls are due Feb 23, officials said Saturday.
The officials include additional district magistrates, sub-divisional magistrates, deputy collectors, deputy inspector general of police and additional superintendent of police, besides officer-in-charge of many police stations.
“We had to transfer these officials and debarred them from election related duties following the directives and guidelines of the Election Commission,” said G.S.G. Ayyangar, chief electoral officer of Tripura.
