Islamabad, Feb 13 (IANS) Two accused in the assassination case of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto have confessed their roles in the crime, a government official said.
Arrested recently from Rawalpindi, the suspects identified as Hasnain Gul and Rafaqat were produced before a Rawalpindi magistrate in tight security and no media was allowed in the court, said the official of the interior ministry.
Bhutto was killed in a gun and bomb attack Dec 27 in Rawalpindi minutes after she addressed a public rally in historic Liaqat Bagh.
A recent investigation report by the Scotland Yard said Bhutto died after her head hit the latch of her Land Cruiser as following the blast she tried to duck herself into the vehicle from its sunroof from where she was waving the cheering crowd.
Both the accused recorded their confessional statements before the magistrate, after which they were sent to Adiala Jail.
According to the official, they have also revealed that the person who fired shots on Bhutto is alive.
Two other suspects Aitizaz Shah and Sherzaman are already in the custody of the Rawalpindi police. They were arrested from Dera Ismael Khan in the North-West Frontier Province.
