Gaza : Hamas leader and prime minister of the deposed Palestinian coalition government Ismail Haneya on Tuesday urged the Arab League (AL) to aid residents of Gaza Strip who face Israeli military pressure and blockade.
Haneya’s appeal was made in a message he sent to the (AL) Secretary-General Amr Moussa about “the daily crimes that the occupation forces commit and the unjust siege that the Palestinian people suffer from.”
Haneya’s message questioned the AL stance regarding the Israeli siege on the Hamas-ruled Gaza.
“You deem Gaza a territory stricken by a catastrophe… where is the urgent aid for this ill-fated region and how will they arrive?”
Haneya also asked Moussa about the Arab foreign ministers’ decision to lift the Israeli closure on Gaza Strip. “When will theplan that was put to overcome the blockade come true?”
Israel has tightened the closure on Gaza Strip since last June when Hamas ousted security forces loyal to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and took over the territory by force.
