Government gets maximum complaints from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi

New Delhi : The government received the highest number of complaints from Uttar Pradesh during 2005-08, followed by Delhi, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Suresh Pachouri said here Wednesday.

Pachouri in a written reply to the Lok Sabha said there were as many as 46,397 complaints from Uttar Pradesh and 24,240 complaints from Delhi.

The government got 18,037 complaints from Maharashtra and 17,616 from Madhya Pradesh in the last three years ending Jan 31, 2008, he said.

Most of the people’s complaints were about public servants, the law and order situation, service related issues, property, land disputes and civic amenities.

“Directions have been issued to all states to redress the people’s grievances within two months, and also give a reasoned reply within the same period if grievances cannot be redressed,” the minister said.

Pachouri said 17,118 and 14,765 complaints were reported respectively from Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan during the corresponding period, while 12,433 complaints were from Bihar.

From the northeastern region, the highest number of complaints was from Assam at 3,206, followed by 193 from Manipur.
