"The skies will remain partly cloudy throughout the day and the maximum temperature will hover around 38 degree Celsius, a three degrees dip from yesterday (Monday) when the maximum was 41.1 degrees. The minimum temperature is 30.3 degrees," said an official of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

"There may be a dust storm or a thunder storm towards the latter half of the day due to which the temperature will remain low," he added.

The humidity also seemed considerably lower than before. "The humidity as recorded today is 65 percent in contrast to yesterday's 73 percent," the official said.

"It is such a breather from the sweaty, scorching weather that we have been experiencing over the past few days," said Anjana Thakur, a housewife.

"I was gearing up for another hot and humid day with my water bottle and umbrella. But when I saw the cloudy sky and felt the cool breeze I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't mind walking to the bus stand," said Alvira Shah, a bank employee.

Added Avinash Thakur, another Delhiite: "Let's just hope that the weather remains this way until the rains come."
