While the government is tirelessly claiming for multiple welfare schemes for the minorities, the corporation is creating hurdles in sanctioning education loans. It was announced by the agency that meritorious poor students of the minority community will be given educational loan for their technical education. Several students submitted their loan application forms as their interest rates were very nominal and the conditions required very easy to fulfill. These application forms were accepted. So far so good. What happened next was the start of their misery.

Contrary to the announcement, total amount of the loan was not paid. The authorities started to disburse loan in installments. Making the case for the poor students more difficult, the agency said that those who have been paid some installments will have to present another government servant as guarantor. Those who fail to do so will not be given next installments and the agency will take back the whole amount with interest. This condition was not mentioned in the application form, nor was it announced earlier.

The regulation complexity has made the fate of the students who have already got some loan installments uncertain. The future of their course is hanging in the balance. It is high time for the Minority Welfare Department to come fore to rescue the students.
