Tired of controversies, Hussey to focus on finals

Sydney : Australian batsman Michael Hussey has asked his team to put behind the controversies that shrouded the summer of spiteful rivalry with India and focus on winning the Commonwealth Bank tri-series as the two teams clash in the first of the best-of-three finals here Sunday.

“I would prefer to bury everything and focus on the final,” Hussey said.

“Both teams and the Australian and Indian public have had enough of the controversy.”

Despite batting being a problem for Australia in the ongoing series in eight games – the world champions passing 250 only twice – Hussey felt that SCG with its batting surface would aid bring out the best in Australian batsmen.

Putting the defeat at the hands of Sri Lankans at Melbourne behind, Hussey said his team would be looking to go 1-0 up in the first final against India.

“There have been difficult conditions in Melbourne during the year and all teams have struggled,” he said. “We don’t want to look too much into the MCG performance. We’re looking to our last performance in Sydney, when all the batsmen played particularly well,” he said.

“We know we’re playing well and we can put on a good performance.”
