A number of soldiers were also wounded in the explosion which took place near Kissufim crossing to the east of southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Younis.

In a statement sent to the press, Saraya al-Quds, the radical movement’s armed wing, said they were standing behind the operation and they “dedicate the bombing to the soul of the martyrYousef al-Simiri” who was killed by Israeli special forces early Wednesday in the nearby al-Garara village.

Witnesses said that a column of black smoke rose from the area following the sound of a blast and that Israeli Apache helicopters were sent to the place, firing heavy machine-gun shots from time to time.

On Saturday, the Israeli army invaded the eastern territories of northern Gaza Strip and killed dozens of Palestinians in the worst ever two-day incursion.
