London : India’s challenge at the All-England Badminton Championship came to an early end with Saina Nehwal going down to Yu Hiryama of Japan in a close three-setter in women’s singles first round.
Saina gave a scare to Hiryama but finally went down 18-21, 21-18, 18-21 Wednesday.
In women’s doubles, Jwala Gutta and Shruti Kurian lost 3-21, 9-21 against top seed Yili Wei and Yawen Zhang of China in the first round.
