Madhya Pradesh gives bravery award on women’s day

Bhopal : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Saturday honoured two women for bravery and social service on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

The first Rani Avanti Bai Bravery award was given to Priya Saini of Ujjain for catching two criminals in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district in April 2007 while Janak Palta Migiligan from Indore got the Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Social Service Award for her dedicated work for tribal and rural women’s empowerment since 1985.

The chief minister on the occasion said his government’s schemes showed that it is serious about women’s empowerment.

Bharatiya Janata Party MP Sushma Swaraj, who was the chief guest on the occasion, lauded the government’s effort for women’s empowerment and said: “”Our intention is not to become supreme but get equal status in the society.”
