Attari (Punjab) : The body of a Pakistani cricket fan, who died after falling sick in an Indian jail, was Monday handed over to Pakistan border guards at this joint land border check-post.
Khalid Mohammad, 35, who came to India to watch a cricket match at Kanpur in 2005 and was arrested for overstaying, died because of some illness at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi Feb 12 this year.
His body was brought here for handing over after completing formalities in Delhi.
A resident of a village near Lahore, Mohammad went missing after his restricted visa expired in April 2005. He was arrested near Delhi May 2006 and was sent to Tihar jail. He was booked under the Foreigners Act.
Nearly a dozen Pakistani cricket fans went missing during the 2005 cricket series between the two countries played at various places in India. Only five of them were arrested by Indian security agencies.
