Replying to a question by Brinda Karat, the minister said the objection of DIAL was based on the Airport Infrastructure Policy, 1997, which clearly states that no greenfield airport is to be allowed within an aerial distance of 150 km of an existing airport.

DIAL has already prepared a master plan for the development of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport to cater to a demand of 100 million passengers in a phased manner to be developed till 2026, the minister said.

The master plan also takes into account the catchments area in and around Delhi including greater Noida, which is within the 150 km radius, the minister added.
