Striking workers are due to rally at Parliament later Wednesday amid growing union opposition to pension reforms currently being debated by lawmakers at committee level.

Greece’s General Confederation of Greek Workers called the stoppage for between midday and 3:00 p.m. (1000 and 1300GMT) on Wednesday, halting public transport in the capital and prompting state carrier Olympic Airways to cancel 14 flights and reschedule at least a dozen more.

Several other airlines also rescheduled flights.

Electricity workers and garbage collectors were to decide later Wednesday on whether to continue their strikes.
