Chennai : ETA Engineering Pvt Ltd, one of the country’s leading electro-mechanical contracting companies, will shortly commission its new integrated facility at Sriperumbudur near here.
“Built at an outlay of Rs.300 million ($7.5 million), the new plant will manufacture industrial and commercial air conditioning equipments like air handling units, package chillers, package air conditioners, ductable split air conditioners, scroll chillers and others,” S.K. Sinha, chief executive officer of ETA told IANS.
The Rs.3.5-billion turnover company will also make the ETA brand window and split air conditioners – now imported from China – at the new facility.
Asked about the future of ETA’s existing facilities at Puduchery and Chennai, he said they would continue to operate and later get into new products like lighting and its accessories.
The move into lighting is in line with the industry trend to cash on the growing electrical contracting business, Sinha said.
Originally promoted as a three-way joint venture between the Dubai-based Emirates Trading Agency (ETA), East India Hotels Ltd (Oberoi Group) and Conwood Agencies Pvt Ltd, ETA Engineering became a wholly owned company of ETA Group last year.
Meanwhile the company has bagged an air conditioning order worth Rs.4 billion from the Delhi International Airport Pvt Ltd (DIAL).
“The order is for complete air conditioning of the proposed integrated passenger terminal (T3) and the air conditioning capacity will be 20,000 tonne,” said Sinha.
According to him, ETA would execute the project with machines made at its Pondicherry and Chennai plants and also with some outsourced equipments.
“Our order book position stands at Rs.9 billion,” he added.
The company hopes to close this fiscal with a turnover of Rs.4 billion with contracting contributing Rs.3.45 billion, services Rs.250 million and products Rs.300 million.
