Toledo, Spain Defends Cuban Five

Toledo : The spouses of two of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unfairly imprisoned in the United States received a strong expression of solidarity with the case of their husbands and comrades.

Adriana Perez and Olga Salanueva, wives of Gerardo Hernandez and Rene Gonzalez, respectively, attended a solidarity rally held in a working-class neighborhood of this Spanish city.

Both women talked on the situation of their husbands and their other three comrades Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Ramon Labañino, imprisoned for 10 years in the United States, for trying to thwart terrorist actions against the island.

Teresa Pantoja, member of the local committee for the release of the Five, stressed the impact of the problem, especially the solitary confinement imposed by US authorities.

Pantoja also stated that everything points to a call for their immediate freedom.

Members of the Spanish movement of solidarity with Cuba also attended the act.

Adriana and Olga arrived in Spain to inform on their husbands’ case to several sectors of Spanish society.

They had arrived in Spain from Geneva, where they met with UN officials and analyzed issues like violence against women, torture, health and arbitrary detentions.
